 ABOUT US

History

The project was started by Brian Mcmanus in March 2006. Initially ran by volunteer’s Dee-Tex soon became a thriving business and was able to offer employed positions to people locally.

Recently the company has provided jobs to people who have been long-term unemployed, funded by a government scheme called “The Future Jobs Fund”. Dee-Tex has since created many non-funded positions for people who originally came to them for a temporary period.

About Us

Dee-Tex Project is a social enterprise that is committed to creating benefits for the local community. Our core business is textile recycling, and we also offer other services within the local community which include;

  • Leaflets/Promotion distribution for local businesses at a competitive rate.

  • The production of security door stops for vulnerable and elderly residents who live in our community.

  • Collection/Delivery of goods (at affordable prices) for disadvantaged local residents.

  • Schools Choose 2 Re-use scheme, where by schools are provided with promotional material from us to highlight the importance of recycling their unwanted clothing to prevent waste from landfill. In return we collect the clothing and pay the school for the textiles collected hence raising money for them or their chosen charity.

  • Planned visits to our premises with local schools, where children can get involved with volunteer participation and see for themselves what recycling textiles involves.

  • Placement of our unique bright pink coloured re-cycling clothing banks throughout North Wales and Chester which help raise money for many local charities and organisations.

  • Providing volunteering placements at our warehouse in Saltney and also at our Retail outlet in Shotton, enabling people to gain work experience to help build their C.V’s while seeking paid employment.

  • Rags 2 Riches is another of our services site based at our warehouse in Saltney and and also at our retail outlet in Shotton. People are able to bring along their unwanted clothing and we pay cash for them (a great way to raise funds).

Re-Dressed

We also have a retail shop in Shotton, Deeside called “Re-Dressed” where we sell second hand clothing at “very affordable prices” to the local community. We have excellent feedback from our customers and pride ourselves on providing the best customer service we possibly can.

Donations

We are very lucky to have great support locally from residents who donate their unwanted clothing to us. In return we are always keen to help support individuals, families and other organisations looking for help with donations from companies like ours. We supply bedding, curtains, towels and clothing to underprivileged people who otherwise simply just could not afford to buy them otherwise.

Donation items we can accept are;

We can accept your unwanted clothing, shoes, bags, belts, hats, jewllery items, bedding, and curtains. We NOW also accept books, cd's, dvd's console games and electrical items. Both our shops take bric-a-brac items that are complete, undamaged and in good condition.

Electrical items we can accept are; Tv's, Stereo Systems, P.C's, Flat Screen Monitors, X Box and Playstation game consoles, dvd and cd Players, Microwaves, Toasters, Irons and kettles.

Company Partnerships

During the four years our company has been in operation we have prided ourselves on the valuable relationships we have developed with organisations we support and work alongside including; Flintshire Local Voluntary Council, Miles of Smiles charity and many local schools including, “Myaes Huffred Special School” which has been bringing pupils along to our premises to volunteer for quite some time now. These are to name but a few of the wonderful organisations we have had great pleasure working with since forming our company. The rewards are fantastic!! it gives us a great sense of pride that these organisations have supported us from the early days to the present.

We are a Not for Profit organisation, which means that all of our surplus funds are used to develop the project.
